 Poem of Africa Trod
Carol Ann Wade
We would like to share a  poem written on the plane when leaving Ethiopia.

***
An Angel singing softly through the eucalyptus trees,
Listen, the leaves whistle in harmony, the birds take to flight
They stroll the mountain side, every generation on the hill
The tradition and strength of these small women, time seems to have passed by... As they carry bundles of eucalyptus trees from the mountain top ...

Listen, an angel starts to sing
A young girl carrying tradition down the mountain side,
bent over and riding her footsteps swiftly
Sings with the joy of life, no pain nor sorrow know her soul
For her voice echoes melodies through the rivers as they run down
Jah,Jah let me be still to embrace life as I hear this angel sing
For I shall return one day for I have seen her face in the mountain side,
And wait for the next generation of these small women to come down this hill,
Be still, oh Jah make InI still- for I have heard an angel sing!

*** Come, rush down and shower InI soul
Softly you flow, your steam arises silent and strong
Finding your path over rocks and roots, flowing free and alive
Come, rush down and shower InI soul.
Come, rush down and shower InI soul
As I feel you beat on InI spirit, InI soul weeps
Jah forgive I for I have sinned
As you drip from InI locks, and roll off InI fingers
I am cleansed, Oh Mother Stream
Come, rush down, for now InI am ready for you to embrace InI soul.
